Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Model SCS attach to corrugated metal roof panels without damaging the skylight?

The heavy metal wire grid rests on two U-shaped support channels positioned over the highest skylight panel ribs. These channels and the screen are attached through the metal roof panel directly to the steel or wood building purlins, ensuring the fall load is transferred directly to the building's structural members rather than the skylight lens.

How fast can a local contractor or maintenance team install these corrugated skylight screens?

Once staged on the roof, installation takes about 10 minutes per screen. The lightweight wire grid and clip attachment system allow local facility crews to complete installation quickly without heavy machinery.

How do I ensure a watertight seal during installation?

The kit includes 3" pieces of butyl sealant tape to place between the metal panel and the support channel where through-fastening takes place. However, it is the installer's responsibility to confirm the installed assembly is watertight. We recommend applying additional self-supplied sealants appropriate for the site if needed.

Does the Model SCS meet OSHA and Cal-OSHA requirements?

Yes. The NextGen Skylight Safety-Screen™ is designed and tested to comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(3)(i) and Cal/OSHA 8 CCR §3212. The screen can withstand a 400 lbs. load to comply with Cal-OSHA standards.

How do I measure corrugated skylights on my facility to order the correct Model SCS screens?

Download the measurement form, measure your skylight panel dimensions and submit the details through our email (info@safetyrailsource.com) or Contact Us page to order custom screens tailored to your building’s purlin spacing.
