Case Study: Nature’s Way - December 2024
Location: Green Bay, WI
Problem Statement: Nature's Way, based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is a popular health and wellness brand offering a wide range of dietary supplements, vitamins, herbs, and homeopathic remedies. In early 2024 Jim McGowan, the Green Bay Facility Manager, discovered that two of their buildings lacked fall protection as required by OSHA standards 1910.28 and 1910.29. He determined that over 4,000 LF of roof edges, multiple roof hatches, smoke vents, HVAC equipment and more were considered unsafe for worker access. In addition, high visibility solutions were needed due to severe winter weather conditions.
In March of 2024 Jim contacted Safety Rail Source® (SRS) inquiring about potential solutions for their rooftop safety needs.
Problem Resolution: SRS, working closely with a local installation company, proposed a comprehensive, turn-key solution for both buildings which included on-site supervision. This was to ensure that the installation process was OSHA-compliant. The proposal for Building 1 included:
- 2,020 LF of NextGen Warning Lines™ - Provides visual barriers to the roof edge
- 526 LF of NextGen Continuous Railing™ - Provides physical barriers to the roof edge
- Kee Hatch® Railing – Provides roof hatch access protection
In April 2024, Nature’s Way approved the proposal. SRS shipped the materials and scheduled the installation for June. Hal Swindell, from SRS, traveled to Green Bay to oversee the installation and ensure OSHA compliance.
Upon completion of the installation, the proposal for Building 2 was approved which required the following safety solutions:
- 1,299 LF of NextGen Warning Lines™
- 310 LF of NextGen Continuous Railing™
- (2) Kee Hatch® Railing Kits
In October of 2024 Hal Swindell returned to Green Bay to supervise the second installation which was successfully completed in December.
