Case Study: INEOS Composites – June 2021 Location: Bartow, FL

Problem Statement: INEOS, a global petrochemicals manufacturer headquartered in London with 40 locations in the US, contacted Safety Rail Source® to assist in providing rooftop fall protection for its INEOS Composites facility in Bartow, FL. The requirement was to bring their rooftops into compliance with OSHA Code 1910.28(b)(13) which states that when work is performed less than 6 feet (1.6 m) from the roof edge, the employer must ensure each employee is protected from falling. The roof of this facility is often accessed by employees as well as contractors.

Problem Resolution: At the request of Plant Operations Manager, Delson Baldin Meira, Safety Rail Source® estimators surveyed the rooftop and developed a comprehensive fall protection program that included 1,195 LF of NextGen 3000™ Universal Guardrail and four ladder attachment kits with self-closing gates. Installation took approximately 1.5 weeks completed by Dennis Brewer and his team from Springer Peterson Roofing in Lakeland, FL. Upon completion of the project, Jan Vanning of Safety Rail Source® inspected the OSHA compliant railing on the rooftop while following on-site safety precautions including wearing a fireproof suit, safety glasses, gloves and a hard hat.
