Choosing the Right Roof Hatch Guardrail System
When selecting a hatch guardrail, industrial and commercial facilities must meet specific structural requirements. OSHA standard 1910.28(b)(3)(v) requires that all exposed sides of a roof hatch opening be guarded by a railing system and a self-closing gate.

Mechanical Hatch Openers: For comprehensive protection, combine your perimeter railing with the NextGen Lift & Lock™ Roof Hatch Opener. This allows workers to safely open, close, and lock the roof hatch from the safety of the ground without needing an electrical hookup or relying on batteries.
Galvanized Self-Closing Gates are provided with each hatch guardrail kit. The gates are easy to install. The gate closing tension is adjusted using one wrench on top of the spring cylinder and one on the bottom of the cylinder.
Our Ladder Safety Gates can be purchased separately. This premium, galvanized Industrial Safety Gate is suited for constant use and tested for up to 50,000 openings. It's also available in powder coated safety-yellow, over galvanized. For harsh environments, choose the Kee Hatch® Mighty Lite model made of aluminum and stainless steel.
