Frequently Asked Questions

What standing seam width does the Model SSS fit?

The standard size for the Model SSS is designed to fit a 24-inch standing seam width. However, because standing seam roof dimensions can vary significantly, custom sizes are readily available to ensure a precise, secure fit for your specific roof profile.

Why does the screen material come in two different wire diameters?

The Model SSS utilizes either .187 or heavy-duty .250 diameter 304 stainless steel wire. The thicker .250 diameter wire is required for screens designed to fit skylights measuring more than 25 inches in width. This ensures the larger screen maintains its structural integrity and OSHA-compliant load capacity over a wider span.

Does the Model SSS meet OSHA and Cal-OSHA requirements?

Yes. The NextGen Skylight Safety-Screen™ is designed and tested to comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(3)(i) and Cal/OSHA 8 CCR §3212. The screen can withstand a 400 lbs. applied load to comply with Cal-OSHA standards.

Does the Model SSS require drilling into the metal roof?

No. The Model SSS uses a specialized non-penetrating installation method. It relies on S-5™ Utility Clamps that securely grip the standing seam of the metal roof, completely eliminating the need for penetrating fasteners and preventing potential leaks.

How long does it take to install the NextGen Model SSS skylight screen, and what is required?

It takes two workers approximately 10 minutes to install one NextGen Model SSS skylight safety screen once tools are staged. Installation is fast and non-penetrative because the design relies on a straightforward clamp and strap system that secures directly to standing seam metal roofs without drilling.
