Problem Statement: To access Berry Plastic’s roof, one needed to climb thru a hatchway that was installed close to the roof edge. Once on the roof, one needed to navigate past 37 skylights that were unprotected fall hazards. According to OSHA Standards, 3 violations on Berry’s roof needed correction: (1) the roof edge near the hatchway needed railing, (2) the open hatchway needed railing, and (3) the skylights needed protection.
Problem Resolution: Bob Radtke of Berry Corporation called on Safety Rail Source® to provide fall protection solutions to protect workers and satisfy OSHA. In March of 2016, the following was delivered to Bob for installation: 37 NextGen Skylight Safety-Screens™ Model STS4872G for skylights measuring 51.25” x 75.5” x 8”, one KeeHatch® Railing System Model RHSR SS 3630, and 21 LF of KeeGuard® Railing. The installation was simple and was completed in about 3 days.
