Project: Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) Water Treatment Plant, October 2019

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Problem Statement: JEA needed OSHA-compliant roof edge fall protection railing on one of its buildings. The first challenge was to provide a system that would withstand the corrosive environment of the Water Treatment Plant and its deteriorating effect on metal railing. The second challenge was the need to install a free-standing, non-penetrating railing system that would not break the roof membrane.

Problem Resolution: Gregg Griffin of JEA contacted Safety Rail Source® to assist with this project and its challenges. The solution was to install the SRS NextGen 3000™ CE® Universal Guardrail System. This system is designed for corrosive environments with its unique components consisting of aluminum railing, Rhino Coated galvanized bases and stainless-steel fasteners. In addition, the freestanding, lightweight bases (58 lbs.) ensured no penetration would occur.

Installation: JEA employed CPPI (Charles Perry Partners, Inc.) to install the SRS NextGen 3000 CE® railing and Safety Rail Source provided expert on-site supervision. The system was installed in less than a day.
