Kee Anchor® is a free-standing, movable non-penetrating dead-weight anchor system for use on roofs with up to 5-degree pitch. The system can be custom-configured for fall restraint or fall arrest. The anchor system must be placed at least 10’ from the roof edge. Weightanka Frequently Asked Question
So far we have exhibited the Weightanka at two trade shows, the North American Steel Construction Show and the smaller Michigan Safety Conference. On both occasions there was one question that was continually asked:
"Will the Weightanka carry the OSHA required load of 5,000 lbs?"
Here is how to address this question.
"Mr. / Mrs. Customer: The OSHA standard that mentions the 5,000 lb load actually gives two distinct options, these are to A) design a system that would connect to an anchorage point, such as connecting to exposed or existing steelwork for example, or B) use a product that is manufactured specifically as a Personal Fall Arrest System. If you use option A) and tie back to the existing structure only then would the 5,000 lbs load criteria apply".
You need to emphasis that:
Something designed that will connect to the roof or structure: 5,000 lbs load applies
A manufactured SYSTEM specifically designed as a Personal Fall Arrest: 5,000 lb DOES NOT apply
Put simply, if you don't use a product like Weightanka and decide to connect directly to the roof structure then it is 5,000 lbs. If you purchase a product like Weightanka the 5,000 lbs DOES NOT apply BECAUSE IT'S A SYSTEM.
Below is the OSHA standard, section (10) discusses attaching to anchorages OR using a personal fall arrest system. The key world in this sentence is OR:
