The Harbor Group in Phoenix, AZ owns and manages several multi-family buildings with parapet-type roofs. An extension ladder is required for maintenance personnel to access HVAC and other rooftop equipment. There are two serious hazards associated with accessing these roofs:

At a Wells Fargo Bank Branch Bank in Chelan, Washington, the rooftop HVAC is unit close to the roof edge. Servicing the unit without fall protection is a violation of OSHA Standard 1910.28(b)(13). Additionally, an extension ladder is required to access the roof however, there is no tie-off point for the ladder as required by OSHA Standard 1918.24(j)(2).
US Foods, one of the largest foodservice distributors in the world, is continually implementing rooftop safety measures throughout its facilities as part of its OSHA Compliant safety program. Its warehouse in Norcross, GA has dozens of domed skylights that have been retrofitted with Skylight Safety Screens. Phase II of US Foods’ OSHA Compliant safety program was to address fall protection at roof access hatchways and access fixed ladders.
Danone S.A., a multinational food-products corporation headquartered in Paris, France contacted Safety Rail Source to provide rooftop fall protection for its plant in Salt Lake City. The team developed a comprehensive fall protection program that included 1,993 linear feet of NextGen 3000 Free-Standing Roof Edge Railing, and 407 linear feet of Standing Seam Roof Railing.
Danone S.A., a multinational food-products corporation headquartered in Paris, France contacted Safety Rail Source to assist in providing rooftop fall protection for its United States facilities. Safety Rail Source® surveyed 13 roofs and developed a comprehensive fall protection program that included more than 3,500 linear feet of NextGen 3000® freestanding roof edge railing, 2 pyramid skylight railings, 15 corrugated skylight screens and numerous self-closing gates.

Through on-site visits, satellite images and many discussions with both teams, Safety Rail Source designed, delivered and installed the most cost-effective solution.
